The African Village Experience with Jacky Essombe – Sunday
Sunday, July 8 | 12:45–1:30pm
Come on a journey to the African Village!
Accompanied by international touring musicians Yoro Noukoussi and Kurai Mubaiwa, Jacky Essombe will transport you to the heart of Africa with traditional songs, music, and dance from the village. Singing and dancing are a part of everyday life in African culture, and most songs and dances are designed to reflect every day life as well as carry the wisdom of the ancestors. Singing and dancing together is a powerful way to express and celebrate the fullness of life and amplify our sense of togetherness. In Africa, children are encouraged to sing and dance together from an early age in order to strengthen their trust and bond to one another.
You will experience a deep sense of belonging, shared joy, and unity, as we join our voices and move our bodies in various easy-to-follow songs and rhythms from West, Central Africa, and Southern Africa.
This one of a kind interactive performance will truly transform our community into a joyful and connected village!
