What better way to discover Whistler’s Cultural Connector than with your very own passport?

Fill your passport with all 5 stamps and win prizes by following these easy steps:

1.       Pick up your Cultural Connector Passport from Arts Whistler, located in the Maury Young Arts Centre (4335 Blackcomb Way, Whistler).

2.       Visit all the Cultural Connector locations and learn about what they do! Talk to the staff at each venue and get a stamp in your passport.

3.       When your Cultural Connector Passport is complete, simply scan the QR code on the back and follow the instructions for a chance to win exciting prizes!

*Submissions can be entered online until 5 pm on May 24, 2024. Winners will be notified via email and/or phone on May 25, 2024. Prizes must be picked up in person from the front desk of the Maury Young Arts Centre during opening hours.

Pico’s Puppet Palace Presents: Pico and the Golden Lagoon | 1:30 pm and 4:30 pm | Saturday, May 18, 2024 

Pico and the Golden Lagoon is a delightful puppet show celebrating courage, friendship, and nature’s wonders. Join Pico, a brave traveller, as she crash-lands on an island and meets David, a marooned naturalist. Along the way, she encounters charming characters like Lou, a dragon living near the lagoon’s edge.

Will Lou help Pico with her fuel problem? Find out in this enchanting tale featuring recycled materials, puppetry, live music, and storytelling.

Are you shy or reluctant to sing in public? This is your chance to ‘Let it Go’ and have your voice heard! Whistler’s Karaoking, Monty Biggins, will lead this sing-along where kids are encouraged to take centre stage.

Join Whistler’s own Kelsey Bareham as she reads from her new children’s book, Tippet the Whippet of the North.

Children and adults alike will fall in love with the story of Tippet, a whippet puppy dumped unceremoniously on the doorstep of Miss Prissy’s Farm and Feed in the Far North. With the help of his new friends, Tippet realizes that even when you are out of your element, the right community will work to make you feel at home. Written in rhyming verse and with hand-painted illustrations, this book is sure to delight children and adults of all ages.


Audain Art Museum

Step inside one of the most architecturally incredible buildings in Whistler, the Audain Art Museum. This incredible facility houses a Permanent Collection that takes visitors on a visual journey through the art of British Columbia. Don’t miss the current Special Exhibition, Otherwise Disregarded.

Black Dog String Quartet Present: String Theory | 11:00 am and 1:00 pm | Sunday May 19, 2024

Black Dog String Quartet is a unique and versatile ensemble featuring some of Vancouver’s finest young musicians. Kids will have so much fun listening to String Theory that they won’t realize they’re developing vital cognitive skills at the same time! While sharpening their listening skills as they pick out the intriguing complexity of a round, a canon, and a fugue, kids get to discover that classical music – with a few pop tunes thrown in – is really very cool!


Squamish Líl̓wat Cultural Centre

Where the Skw̲xw̲ú7mesh and Líl̓wat7úl cultures meet, grow, and are shared, the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre is an incredibly inspiring facility where you can learn about First Nations art and culture, including animal symbolism and local First Nations stories and legends. Guests can also wander along the Salish Stroll and experience the interpretive forest trail.

Haida & Squamish Stories by Kung Jaadee | 12:00pm and 3:00pm | Saturday May 18, 2024 | Kung Jaadee – more info

Kung Jaadee is a professional Indigenous storyteller, educator and published author who has been telling stories for 30-plus years across Canada. She belongs to the X̱aayda (Haida), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Tlingit, Tsleil-Waututh Nations, and is also part Hawaiian. She was born and raised on Haida Gwaii and is from the Yaguu’laanaas Raven Clan.

In her lively storytelling performances, she shares her telling of famous Haida legends about Raven (Yaahl), the creator of the world, including Raven’s Feast, which has also been published into a popular kids’ book by the same name. She will also share some famous Squamish legends about the sights viewable from Vancouver’s Stanley Park, including Slhx̱i7lsh (“Standing Man” commonly known as Siwash Rock)  and The Two Sisters (The Lions mountains). Accompanied by her drum, she’ll sing some Haida songs and teach some basic words in Xaad Kil, the Haida language.

People of all ages will be captivated by these interesting legends with universal lessons.
